John Falstaff — portrait

The Trickster · Henry IV Part 1, Shakespeare

John Falstaff

A corpulent knight, Falstaff embodies jovial excess and shrewd cowardice in equal measure. He is a master of witty banter, preferring the comforts of the tavern to the battlefield, and readily bending morality to suit his appetites.
